Author Guidelines

Are you interested in submitting your next work to PE-APA? This is great! We recommend that you review the About the Journal page for the journal's section policies. 

Authors need to register with the journal prior to submitting or, if already registered, can simply log in and begin the submission process.

As an author you should know that publishing in PE-APA is completely free-of-charge, and you will retain full copyright of your published work. Once published, you can also download your high resolution electronic publication pdf file and share it or store it at any platform or medium.

In PE-APA we are looking forward to receiving your manuscript and we will provide a fair and transparent peer review and a personalized production of your manuscript.

 

Additional Benefits for Authors publishing in PE-APA

Argentine Paleontological Association (APA), through its journals, offers to its members and the paleontological community in general several benefits and services for free:

  • English Correction. PE-APA uses professional software for automatic corrections of the English language for all submitted manuscripts. When in-depth and personalized correction is necessary, manuscripts submitted by a first author who is an active APA member could also be corrected by an official English translator without any cost.
  • Plagiarism. PE-APA uses professional software for automatic detection of plagiarism for all submitted manuscripts.
  • Professional Design. The production of your accepted manuscript is the hands of a professional designer with years of experience in scientific publishing, ensuring a final galley of the highest quality possible.

 

Additionally, our Production Team provides additional benefits to the authors:

  • Spanish Translation. For non-Spanish speaking authors, PE-APA offers the translation of Title, Abstract and Keywords in the Spanish language without any cost and for all manuscripts.
  • Registration of Taxon Names. PE-APA will register all new taxonomic names in their corresponding databases. In case that the authors prefer to register themselves new names and nomenclatural acts, they should inform the Production Team of PE-APA that such registration occurred and share all the relevant information.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • Follow the instructions (see below for detailed instructions and associated files)
  • The authors declare that they have no competing interests.
  • Be prepared to upload the following files: 1. Text files (in DOC or DOCX): manuscript (including references and figure references), tables (as separate files), appendices (as separate files). 2. Figure files (in TIFF format): the width of the figures should be 82 mm or 170 mm, the height of the figures cannot exceed 230 mm, the resolution must be 300 dpi. Manuscripts with figures that do not fit these requirements will not be processed. 3. Integrated PDF file (including text, figures, tables and appendices). 4. Letter to the Editor detailing: Length of the manuscript, number of figures, tables, appendices and supplementary information files. A justification of any exception to be considered, such as manuscript length A list of at least five (5) potential reviewers including name and e-mail. 5. Optional: supplementary information (DOC, DOCX or TIFF). 6. Starting from August 1st 2017, the Editorial Board will evaluate if an accepted manuscript requires an English grammar correction. This service will be performed during the copyediting process once the manuscript has been accepted. The Asociación Paleontológica Argentina will cover the costs of this service if the first author is a member of the Association. Otherwise, the Editorial Production Team will contact the authors to coordinate payment for this service.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor it has been sent before to another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor). Note that PE-APA routinely checks the submitted manuscript for plagiarism issues.
  • I declare that all authors have read the manuscript and agreed to the submission.
  • The authors declare that they hold the copyright for all the submitted items (e.g., images, matrices, scans, videos, etc.), or that they have permission to reproduce them herein. (info) In that case, the authors should clearly state in the manuscript the original source of the copyrighted material and might be asked to provide evidence that the permission was obtained.

Articles

The length of the manuscripts (including figures, tables and references) should be limited to 30,000 words.

Nomenclatural Notes

The length of the manuscripts  should be limited to 800 words (one printed page). They should not include figures nor tables.

Thematic Volume

Dedicated to develop particular subjects, including complete works from scientific meetings (congresses, symposia, etc.).

Copyright Notice

Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a CC Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.

Privacy Statement

 The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
