ZONAS DE RADIOLARlOS DEL EOCENO MEDIO DEL GRUPO ANCON, PENINSULA DE SANTA ELENA, ECUADOR
Abstract
Radiolaria from 504 samples from the Ancón Group at the Anconcito-Punta Mambra section, and from six wells drilled offshore and onshore Santa Elena Peninsula were studied. The following radiolarian Zones of Middle Eocene age were recognized: Dictyoprora mongolfieri, Thyrsocyrtis triacantha, Podocyrtis ampla and Podocyrtis mitra Zones. The Clay Pebble beds are assigned to the D. mongolfieri Zone and base of the T. triacantha Zone; the Socorro Formation is assigned to the T. triacantha Zone and base of the P. ampla Zone; the Seca Formation, to the P. ampla Zone and the Punta Ancón Formation, to the P. mitra Zone.KEY WORDS.
